Testing Ballast resistors
1 Obtain 2 ballast resistors with different part numbers
2. List part numbers and resistance specification(s)
3. Measure the resistance of the resistors
Specifications
Ballast resistor NO1      BR1                 Ballast resistor NO2   BR2
Ballast resistor NO1 ohm spec 0.9-1.1ohm        Ballast resistor NO2 ohm spec 0.5-0.7ohm

Meassured Resistance Values

Ballast resistor NO1 measured ohms 4.1 ohms        serviceble? NO
Ballast resistor NO2 meassured ohms 2.3ohms       serviceble? NO
Measuring Current Draw and Voltage Drop

Current draw 3.422Amps
Coil calculated Voltage Drop 4.5V
Coil measured Voltage Drop 3.84V
Coil resistor calculated voltage drop 5.43v
Coil resistor measured voltage drop 6.24v
Did your calculated values equal your measured results explain why or why not?
Voltage drop are equal with my measured results
Calculated value:
Ballast resistance 1.9ohm
Coil resistance 1.3ohm
Coil voltage drop 4.14A 1.3ohm= 5.4v
Ballast resistor voltage drop 3.14A 1.9ohm=5.98v

1 comment:

  1. Voltage drop are equal with my measured results

    Are they?
not from what can see in most their is 1 volt difference
